I am presently en route to my next evangelical mission location in Badagry, Lagos State. It is a great distance from my residence. The many buses I have to commute to the mission field and the many traffic jams I would encounter are bearing on my heart.
At several points in this journey, I romanced the idea of going back home from where I was to go on the journey on another day, but I knew that it was best for me to continue on the journey.
As the thought of calling off the journey to the mission field paced about my heart, I remembered the scripture where Jesus likened the kingdom of heaven to a man who found treasure in a field and sold all he had to get the treasure.
The field is the world, and the treasure is the souls of men that need saving.
I knew immediately that the Lord of the harvest was encouraging me to continue on the journey and be willing to give all to see souls saved.
Saving souls through the preaching of the gospel comes at a great price. While salvation is free for all, the laborers must pay a great price in self-denial, financial depletion, and risk to life to take the saving word to the world of unsaved men.
The laborers in the harvest of the Lord are in good company because the Lord of the harvest paid the ultimate price of going to the lake of fire so that no man would have to go to the lake of fire should they believe the gospel.
The harvest is great, and laborers will no longer be few.
