New Creatures

A prominent reality of those who have believed the gospel is that they have become NEW CREATURES.

“Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

To understand the term, “New Creature”, we must consider the adjective “New” which happens to be the emphatic focus of the term, “New Creature”.

A common understanding of the term, “New Creature” is that the man in Christ never existed before he came into existence. While it is true that the man in Christ never existed before he existed in Christ Jesus, this is not the exact understanding of the term, “New Creature”.

The adjective ‘New’ as it relates to the reality of the man in Christ means ‘Spirit’. The Spirit of Christ is the Spirit of Newness; and so, those who have believed in Christ Jesus are Spirit Creatures – this is exactly what it means to be a New Creature.

So, everywhere you see in scripture the terms, ‘New Creature’ and ‘New Man’, it rightly means ‘Spirit Creature’ and ‘Spirit Man’ respectively.

The man in Christ is a Spirit Creature because he is born of the Spirit of Christ, and according to the scripture of truth, whoever is born of the Spirit is Spirit, and whoever is joined with the Lord is one Spirit with him.

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
— John 3:6 (KJV)

“But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.”
— 1 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV)

To be born from above is to be born of the Spirit of God, and this makes you a Spirit Man or a Spirit Creature.

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water (word) and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
— John 3:5 (KJV)

With this understanding of the prophetic meaning of the word, “New”, you can understand the term “New Song” not to mean a song that has never been sung before, but a song that was inspired by the Spirit of God.

So, every time the Holy Spirit inspires you to sing a familiar song, it is a New Song unto the Lord.

Also, the instruction to sing a new song unto the Lord as seen in the Psalms does not mean that you compose a song for the Lord, but that you sing a song that the Spirit of God drops in your heart even if it is a familiar song.

God has blessed you.
